Differently Abled is a joint event that brings together the screening of a film and demonstrations by artists with disability challenges. The event was created by a filmmaker, Nori Mizukami, as an expansion of his 40-minute documentary, What's Invisible.
In the film, Nori documents a group of blind photographers in New York City, focusing on one of its members, Steve Erra, a visual artist going blind. Through the making of this film, Nori learns about the empowering aspects of art which overcome the creators' disaiblity challenges, along with its difficulties. As the title Differently Abled expresses, creativty can be limitless regardless. It is Nori's mission to support disabled artists so that their works will continue to get the message across and leave a positive impact on our society.
During this New York City event, What's Invisible will be screened with the protagonist of the documentary, Steve Erra, present to demonstrate his artistic ability - light painting photography in the dark.
